BatiKids as Educational Game to Teach Children the Process of Batik Production
Buku BatiKids as Educational Game to Teach Children the Process of Batik Production Batik as intangible cultural legacy of Indonesia, with its symbolism and the culture of hand-dyed fabrics, requires a very labour-intensive and sophisticated technique that takes a long time in the production. Recently, batik artisans have been dominated by elders, with relatively few young individuals entering the industry. Therefore, it is an urgent need to pass on the art of batik to the next generation in order to maintain its survival. This book presents an approach that can pique children’s interest in and eagerness to learn the batik-making process. BatiKids was created as an educational game to answer issues about how to adapt physical batik processing and surroundings into digital space while applying UX and UI design, and how the result is enjoyed by the children. BatiKids provided interaction that allows users to experience as if they are making batik in the real process. It is preferably played as an integration with the traditional method, not as a stand-alone learning process. sssssThe users, especially the children, are highly recommended to play BatiKids accompanied by the batik artisans or the teachers
